Jesus Christ

Who is Jesus Christ?

Jesus Christ is an historical character who walked the earth near 2000 years ago. His birth was predicted by ancient Jewish prophets like Isaiah. Not only so, but his death and resurrection from the dead was likewise prophesied centuries before he came.

Jesus was born supernaturally. That is, he was not born by natural human conception. The Holy Spirit of God came upon a virgin girl called Mary and caused her to conceive a baby boy. Because he was born by a human mother, Jesus is the natural son of man. However, because he was born by a supernatural Father. Therefore, he is also the supernatural Son of God.

For the 3 years of his ministry before the event of the cross, Jesus taught about God’s kingdom, healed the sick and fed the starving.

For the 3 years of his ministry before the event of the cross, Jesus taught about God’s kingdom, healed the sick and fed the starving.

Why was he crucified?

Jesus needed to be human like you and me because of sin. Sin has separated us all from God’s perfect goodness. And the Bible makes it clear that the result of sin is death, not just physical death but eternal death. Therefore, God sent Jesus as a natural man to take the result of sin when he died by crucifixion. However, because Jesus is also God (that is God in the flesh) he did not remain dead but came alive again. Death – the result of sin – could not contain him because, as the Son of God, Jesus is sinless. And so, he rose from the dead.

What’s that mean to me?

The Bible tells us that we all have sinned and missed the perfect mark of God’s goodness. Because the result of sin is death Jesus died but because of his righteousness, and by the power of God’s Holy Spirit, he came alive again. Thus, Jesus Christ was the proxy – the go between – for you and me. He mediated between God and man so that if we, who are sinful, admit to sin and accept the mediation of Jesus then we will be forgiven of all sin. Through Jesus we are forgiven purified and so have the right to approach holy God. Jesus saved us from sin and reconciled us to God the Father.

What can I do to be saved?

ONE: Admit your sin

TWO: Accept the fact of Christ’s mediation on your behalf

THREE: Believe he died and rose again on your behalf

FOUR: Ask him into your life and commit your life to him

FIVE: Call him your personal Lord and Saviour and tell the world about it.

Pray now.

“Dear God, I realise that I am far from you because of sin. I admit that I was born into sin and have done things in my life I’m not proud of. Forgive me, I pray. I realise that Jesus was sinless yet he died for sin in my place. Thank you for that. I believe that he died and rose from the dead so that I could be reconciled to God. I now accept this for myself and ask you, Jesus, to come into my life as I give my life to you. I now call you my personal Lord and Saviour. Help me to live for you. In he name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.”
